The first electric vehicle was invented in 1834 by Thomas Davenport of Vermont.  He also incidentally was the inventor of the DC electric motor.  Rechargeable batteries didn’t come around until many years later (1859), but he was able to drive his EV on a short track. The decline of EV’s started in the early 20th century as road infrastructures expanded and gasoline powered vehicles were made affordable by Henry Fords mass production lines, they could also travel faster for greater distances.
Batteries As the industry begins to evolve. EV’s range anxiety is further resolved. Our prototype ‘66 Corvair will utilize LiFePO4 Lithium-Ion 180AH batteries. The driving factor for the battery pack choice is mainly determined by the weight of the vehicle and the desired range with respect to the investment cost. The improved battery density is the reason EV’s are making a come back. AC Motors Our AC electric motor manufacture of choice is HPEVS, Inc., the AC-51 is an excellent match for vehicles up to 3,400 lbs. If the vehicle being converted is as much as 4,500 lbs. then the Dual AC-35 is the one. These motors operate at voltages up to 144 VDC and are proven within the industry.

Electronics Schematics and files are provided for the customer, detailing all the wire harness connections along with flow charts showing the logic used in the processors. No stone is left unturned as open source is consistent with our mission statement. All systems are controlled by CAN bus. Wire harnesses are maticuluosly kept intact with addition of our matching OEM connectors and cabling. It’s important to always keep the original parts available for converting back as classic car values are largely dependent on stock parts. Much of the functionality can be programmed such as indicator lights, heating & cooling controls, interior lighting and state-of-charge displays. All incandescent bulbs are replaced with LED lighting to reduce the power draw and assist towards maximum vehicle range. Sound systems are kept original unless the customer would like us to integrate and upgraded system under the dash or hidden in the glove compartment or trunk.
California’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate gets hijacked by the oil industry.  GM sells out to Exxon. In 1998 the EV1 plant gets dismantled, advanced battery patent gets sold to Exxon never to be seen again.  All EV1’s are recalled and crushed.  The fact of the matter is GM has always be beholden to the oil industry and from the start, the EV1 could never be purchased only leased.  The plan was to never allow these cars on the market.  How’d that work out GM!  Now the Koch brothers have shifted their sights on the solar industry, unleashing their money machine, lobbying against solar power rebates.  Their refineries and pipelines are causing terrible harm to us, in the end they’re sure to lose their billions just like the fracking disaster in North Dakota. They should invest in alternative energy and start transferring the petroleum jobs,  …or be forced into submission by changing sentiment.
